2 Corinthians 10:12b tells us, "when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding. Comparison is of the flesh, the world and the devil. We should never step foot in that arena.
But we are human and sometimes we fall into it -- often, when something doesn't go as we wish it would go.
If we are living for Jesus and doing our best to follow God's voice and commands, then that is enough. If people don't like our choices that is between them and God. We just need to follow Jesus. He will deal with other people's attitudes toward us.
Galatians 1:10 says, "For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ."
Here's another good verse, 2 Timothy 2:15: "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."
At times there will be fallout from others when you follow Jesus Christ. They won't understand why you do what you do. They might belittle what you do. They might pass judgments on what you do. They might ridicule you and see what you do as a waste of time. Or maybe they write you off because they label you with some category in order to not really understand you. All of this happened to Jesus. It still happens to him. So, if this happens to you, you are in good company.
Psalm 118:6 says, "The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"
Just live your life for Jesus. If someone asks why, tell them why. But if they don't understand, that is ok. Or if they think what you're doing doesn't make sense, that's ok too. It is between you and Jesus. Like I wrote above, he will deal with other people's attitudes toward you. You may never see this but know that he has your back.
I saw a robin two days ago -- yeah! Robins always bring me hope. And then tomorrow it is supposed to snow 3 to 5 inches.
Time is short. Choose Jesus now. You might not have another chance.
