Maybe we even say, "OK, God, if you give me a sign I will do ______for you."
"God, if you really want me to forgive that person you will send me a message."
"God, if you do ___________ for me I will serve you the rest of my life."
People have been talking like this to God since time began! Matthew tells us that the Pharisees said to Jesus, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You." (12:38)
Think if our own children acted like this in their relationships with us.
"Mom, I was planning on cleaning my room but you never gave me a sign so I wasn't sure you wanted me to."
"Dad, you never said I couldn't take the car four-wheeling so I thought you must think it was okay. You didn't give me a sign."
Oh wait. Kids do do that! My Bad!
When we demand a sign we are refusing to use the brains God has given us. He speaks to us all the time. And most times we know what is right. We just have to do it. When we aren't sure we can ask for wisdom (James 1) and God will give it.
So, I'm not waiting for a sign. My family says I need to see the doctor. And so I will today. I'm not getting better. It's been over a week. Darn sickness. Thankfully I can see a doctor. My youngest son will see the doctor today too.
Also, if you're reading this pray for my niece Olivia to be totally healed. She is getting better but not healed totally yet. Thank you.
