The picture above makes no sense as it says in its caption. It isn't funny. It isn't that bizarre. It's just odd.

Sometimes the stuff God calls us to do falls into the odd category.

Sometimes what we know He is telling us to do makes no sense and we cannot even wrap our minds around it. We may wonder why. We may ask.

Sometimes God will answer.

And sometimes He won't.

Some things He calls us to do are for other people's benefit -- and only God knows how He will use it in their lives.

I was in Joshua 6 today. God gave one of these kinds of commands to Joshua.

when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people will go up every man straight ahead.

I can't imagine that kind of battle plan made much sense to Joshua.

I wonder if he questioned it at all within?

He obeyed, but obedience doesn't always bring understanding.

And of course we know the rest of the story. It happened just as God said it would. The walls came tumbling down with that mighty shout.

Sometimes a mighty shout is the answer we need.

I'm conflicted inside, can't figure out how to make a situation in my life to work out right now. There's really nothing I can do except choose to worry or choose to praise God.

I'm going to choose the latter. Today, a mighty shout is the answer I need. It isn't the one I wanted but it is the one I need.

So thank you Lord. We're going to shout out loud today.

Praying for your internal conflict to reach blessed resolution, Jane.

As for that battle plan God gave Joshua, I can't help but think how different it was from the way the Israelites went into battle on the east side of the Jordan before crossing over to Jericho. I can imagine myself in his situation thinking, "But God, that's not how you told us to do it before."

God's sometimes got surprises for us.

Tim

Ah Tim, I can so hear us Christians saying the same thing, "God, that isn't how you told us to do it last time!"

Yeah, it's like the entire book of Hebrews was written in order to address the issue!
