I will exalt Thee, I will give
thanks to Thy name;
For Thou hast worked
wonders,
Plans formed long ago, with
perfect faithfulness." Isaiah 25:1
Everything God makes is a wonder: the dirt we walk on, the air we breathe, even the darn thistle bushes that seem to have overtaken the lowland in my pasture!
This week there has been a mountain lion sighting by a neighbor. She called me yesterday and it sounds like he ran out of my pasture. He's a big one. My neighbor said his tail was thicker around than a baseball bat.
Tuesday morning my mule was going crazy and now I know why. Mules are great watchdogs.
I thought it probably had moved on, probably on the hunt for food, increasing his territory, whatever mountain lions do.
Last night I took a walk to my pasture and studied the ground. I found two huge cat prints (I mean huge -- the size of a horse's hoof). They weren't there Wednesday afternoon when I went out looking.
Is he still around?
I don't know.
I know this cat can and probably will do a lot of damage if he stays around. He puts my colt in danger, my dogs and cats in danger, but let me be honest -- I really want to see him. There's something incredibly beautiful to see a creature in its natural habitat while it functions as God intended it to function.
We are no different. I love to watch my husband ride a horse. I could do this for hours. He's been riding horses since before he could walk (his grandfather bolted a car seat kind of contraption onto a saddle). He is so himself when he's riding. He's a delight to watch.
And wherever you are totally yourself I would guess it is fun for someone who loves you to watch you. I bet God does this -- just loves to watch His kids enjoying life.
So, where are you most yourself? Enjoying life and being creative?
Go there today.
Know that God is watching you, loving you, cheering you on.
Will I see the mountain lion. I still want to, but I fear for him. He's a predator and predator's don't fit in farm and ranch country.
