It wasn't for fame, fortune or building a platform. It wasn't for a place for me to vent. It wasn't for popularity....

The reason I began this years ago was to share Jesus with people, to help my fellow humans see that the Bible is accessible to daily life -- that it really does apply and we can find strength in it and guidance.....no matter what the situation. I started it to help others on this journey we call life. I want to offer hope, some help and a lot of truth.
I love it if I can make people laugh or cry. I want especially to touch hearts -- only the Spirit can do this -- but I pray He uses me as a vehicle by which to do this.
My best writing isn't in this blog. Usually I write in the few minutes I have between drinking my third cup of coffee and getting my three youngest children their breakfast and vitamins (which they hate). I also usually have a cat on my lap and letting two dogs in and out of the house. They go out to bark at the moon or the rising sun or the loose chicken or a bird flying by.
I want so much for you all to know that Jesus is what life is about, that if you don't know Him, if you don't invite Him to be part of your life, you are missing out. He isn't constricting. He isn't about rules. He is about being closer than your own breath, being a guide, a friend, the driver in your car of life so you don't have to do the driving. Let Him do it!
Next week I will travel back to where I grew up with three of my children for Thanksgiving. There are a lot of hurting hearts right now in this area. I want to go and "fix" it all. I won't be able to. I can't fix anyone. But I can love without judging. I can show compassion without an agenda. I can share Jesus to a broken heart. He is the restorer of hearts, the restorer of lives.
How do we get confused? We start listening to sources other than the One Source Who knows all things. I get distracted easily. I still have people-pleasing tendencies even though God has shown me how that can be such a trap (that in itself a long story -- includes a nervous breakdown and a broken heart).
So, I want to share Psalm 98 with you from The Message:
Sing to GOD a brand-new song.
He's made a world of wonders!
He rolled up his sleeves,
He set things right.
GOD made history with salvation,
He showed the world what he could do.
He remembered to love us, a bonus
To his dear family . . . indefatigable love.
The whole earth comes to attention.
Look -- God's work of salvation!
Shout your praises to GOD, everybody!
Let loose and sing! Strike up the band!
Round up an orchestra to play for GOD,
Add on a hundred-voice choir.
Feature trumpets and big trombones,
Fill the air with praises to King GOD.
Let the sea and its fish give a round of applause,
With everything living on earth joining in.
Let ocean breakers call out, 'Encore!'
And mountains harmonize the finale --
A tribute to GOD when he comes,
When he comes to set the earth right.
He'll straighten out the whole world,
He'll put the world right, and everyone in it.
