To be human means (besides so many lovely things) suffering and problems. We all will suffer -- probably, very likely more than once (unless you live for just a few minutes). We all have problems. Sometimes they're small. Sometimes they're large. Sometimes they're overwhelming and feel impossible to us.
It's those last ones I want to touch on.
Impossible problems.
There's all sorts of things that are impossible for humans, to include solving relentless challenges in our lives. Each of us probably has an issue that raises its ugly head over and over in our lifetime. We think we have it licked and it comes back with two heads. We cut them off and it comes back with four -- like the Hydra Hercules battles. He has to fight it with a new technique. He can't win by doing it the way he typically would defeat an enemy.
Hercules is a well-known story. Hercules has god-like strength.
We don't. We need the Spirit to do the defeating for us. In Isaiah 55 God says, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways My ways."
A person could read this as if God is belittling our limited ways and reminding us He is God.
He is reminding us He is God but He isn't belittling or condemning us (God doesn't do that. Check out Romans 8:1). He is saying, Hey, you might not know what to do. Your resources are gone. You have no idea how to proceed. I'm Creator God. I am Creativity. Seek Me for an answer. Seek Me for the way you are to proceed.
That is a whole lot different than condemnation. He knows we are made of dust. He knows we can't do it alone. He knows those challenges that leave us paralyzed in fear and worry. Ask Him to open your eyes to see a new way. Everything belongs to God. Everything. There is nothing that phases Him. Let Him work. Wait on Him expectantly. You can see no way out of the situation. But God can. In fact, He is making a way right now. Wait on Him.
"'THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.'" 1 Corinthians 2:9
"Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary." Isaiah 40:31
I'm writing this for you but I'm also writing this for me. Yesterday I was a bit stressed. Well, not stressed, but I can't say I was quite content. A problem loomed in front of me and it felt unending and without solution (plus it was very gray and I'm really affected by grayness). God got me to a better place but it probably wasn't until I was lying in bed that I felt released from my limited view.
I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about a writing project I've been working on all summer. I had a problem with it I couldn't figure out how to get past. It wasn't going to work with way I had written it so far but there was a lot of good material. So, in the middle of the night a new way to proceed came to me. I don't know if it will be the final product but it is so creative, it had to come from Father God and not myself. I am thankful. I don't know if this will solve the bigger problem but it is a new direction for me to take.
God will do the same for you. And He will do this for us over and over and over. He isn't condemning you even if you are the cause of the problem. He will help you out of it. He loves you!
