Happy Independence Day Americans!
And Happy Freedom Day to All Believers. For Believers I could say that every day -- every day is freedom day for Believers. If it isn't, then something's wrong.
I'm not talking about a outer freedom. A person can be the King and totally in charge of his domain and still be a prisoner within. And a person can be a slave but free within. The inner freedom is what God promises to those who trust in Him.
Do you have it?
It's easy to figure out. Is your brain free? Do you have peace? Or, is there something in your mind that constantly bugs you?
If there's something you think about constantly, something that binds up your thoughts, something that you just can't escape, you might be in bondage to it. If there's something you absolutley must have or you go crazy, you might be a slave to that.
If you are a Believer you don't have to be in bondage to anything. Jesus has given us the way to freedom. We just have to take it. Anyone can take it.
I'm going to share with you one of the most useful verses in the Bible: 2 Corinthians 10:5:
We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
You can do that with anything that has taken over your mind. This is what you do. You say, I take that thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
Sometimes you might have to repeat that several times before you feel free from your mental tormenter, but you will be freed.
This also works with worry. We are told we aren't to worry. Worry is a type of fear. God's perfect love will cast out fear. If you are believing there is never a reason to worry for you know God is in control. You know God is a good God. He is a loving Father. He can be trusted wholly.
Worry is not being responsible. It is being fearful and small of mind.
Choose freedom. It is so much better than bondage.
HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. 1 Peter 2:6b
