God is a loving God, mighty to save, Incredible and Loving and Perfect Parent; forgiving, merciful, totally trustworthy...but sometimes He messes with His children.
Now, it isn't messing as in wanting to see us suffer or get frustrated. But if we are stuck in our routines, finding comfort in ritual and our way, He's going to shake us up a bit.
This summer, especially today and yesterday, I've been messed with. For over 23 years I've gotten up earlier than anyone else in the house and read my Bible, prayed and journaled. This is becoming impossible to do this summer since I now have two teenagers who work and who need to get up increasingly very early (my son plants trees for the county and on hot days they start very early).
Then my younger ones will get up early no matter what time they go to bed. And Jane's time in the morning of quiet and peace is hard to come by.
God's allowing it to stretch me, deepen my ties to Him no matter what is going on around me.
Jesus was totally in tune with the Heavenly Father no matter what was going on around Him. And He was often interrupted and was constantly pulled at, and it is amazing to me he just didn't get totally drained of all emotional strength. Maybe that's why He was sleeping so soundly in the boat during that storm (Luke 8:23 But as they were sailing along He (Jesus) fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended upon the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger.)
Oh, if I was only more like Him! Amen! Is God rocking your world a bit today?
