I've talked about waiting several times in the past. In fact, if you click on "waiting" in my categories to the right you will find it is mentioned at least 20 times since 2013.
It is one of the most important skills we can learn to navigate this life successfully -- waiting with expectation.
If we can teach our children how to do this it will cut down on their future frustration. Life begins with waiting (waiting for at least 9 months for your child, sometimes a lot more if it is an adoption sometimes less if the baby is born early or it is quick adoption). You could say (if you are in a cynical mood) life is just one long wait for death.
Waiting is on my brain because I wanted to check in today on my blog but I didn't really have anything to write.
I'm waiting for a whole lot of things right now (I'm sure you are too). I've been waiting for Friday. It's been a busy week here. It exhausts me. I am waiting for my seeds to sprout, some will take at least 21 days. I'm waiting for new things to happen in my children's lives. I'm waiting for warmer weather. It is spring and the only places you will find snow on our place are places tucked under trees. The wind is strong and cold still so Hawk and I stay indoors. I'm waiting to schedule surgery (and then I'll be waiting for surgery). Also waiting to see a few good friends soon.
A lot of this waiting is similar to yours. We've learned to wait in some situations with patient expectation. We know the stuff is coming. Why worry? Why get frustrated?
We gotta do the same thing in answers to prayer or in the next unknown stage of life. Sometimes my brain is just empty -- I've just gotta wait for God to renew it. And He will.
What are you waiting for? Are you waiting in expectation? In belief?
While you wait train your faith. That's what waiting is. It is a training and growth time for your faith and the widening of your love for God and others. Just like an athlete trains for the next game or meet, he knows it is coming so he knows he's gotta prepare.
You know something's coming so prepare. It will be something huge -- something good or bad but no matter what it is you're going to need some faith. Store it up. It will come in handy.
"Lead me in Thy truth and teach me, For Thou art the God of my salvation; For Thee I wait all the day." Psalm 25:5
