Ezekiel 4:1-2
If you want to read some weird stuff read Ezekiel. He was a prophet of God for decades and God gave him really strange visions. God also asked him to do things that from a practical point of view didn't make much sense. God used Ezekiel to make picture sermons to his people, to illustrate the message through actual things.
Fast forward to the New Testament and Jesus with the crowds. He spoke to them in stories, parables. Someone will be open to a story but will be totally closed to a sermon. Truth can wiggle into a heart through a thought-provoking, emotionally-filled story that people can identify with. Stories get hearts ready to receive truth.
So it is with our lives. I believe God wants to use the lives of His children as parables for those who are watching. If we cooperate with God, and rest in Him during all the ups and downs, there is great power for others to witness. Jesus tells us to live in Him (John 15:4).
If we can accept this thought, that God uses our lives to speak to others, there might be things that happen in them that make no sense, that might even seem to have nothing positive come out of them on the surface. Some things might happen specifically for someone who is watching. In these kinds of situations God is essentially saying, "Child, I believe in You. I believe you can handle this, that you will trust Me through it."
We don't know who is watching our lives. But if people know you are a Believer, they are watching.
