Okay, I have a great thought for you today. It really blessed me. It isn't my thought. It didn't come from me whatsoever. It came from a Bible study I'm doing right now. It is so good that I have to share it.
The above verse are King David's words. He was feeling bad because he was living in a palace while the ark of God (which stood for God's presence) was still in a tent. He thought this was so wrong. He shared this with Nathan the Prophet. Nathan told him to do whatever was on his heart since God was with David.
Turns out this wasn't what God wanted at all. When Nathan talked to God later, God said Whoa, that isn't my plan (okay, that's with a bit of Jane in it).
Beth Moore writes, "Just because the Lord was with David didn't mean he should go ahead and do whatever he had in mind . . . His heart was right, but his remedy wasn't . . . not every good idea is a God-idea"
And okay, here is the blessing part:
"Just because David confused a good idea with a God-idea didn't mean he had failed . . . When God doesn't appear to bless your plan to do something for Him, consider that He wants to do something for you instead."
Isn't that good! Oh, what a blessing that was and is to me.
Thank you Jesus!
