Are you where you want to be?
Do you often wonder if you were somewhere else God might use you more?
Do you think "if only" thoughts about your situation?
I have.
I have seen need in other places and think I could be of use in those places. This usually occurs if my current life is in a holding pattern, when nothing seems to be happening. We seem to be just existing.
Did you know all lives get in those holding periods, those waiting periods? Even when I was deployed to Africa way back in 1993 there were days that were just days. We could hear shots and artillery go off daily but still there were just regular days when nothing seems to be going on.
When we think these thoughts about our situations we are missing the point. We are focused on ourselves rather than Christ and the big picture.
Jesus tells us in John 15:16, "You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give to you."
I love the following quote from Oswald Chambers. It really speaks to me:
"Look at God's incredible waste of His saints, according to the world's judgment. God seems to plant His saints in the most useless places . . . Jesus never measured His life by how or where He was of the greatest use. God places His saints where they will bring the most glory to Him, and we are totally incapable of judging where that may be."
