OK. Read that verse again. Is this what is encouraged in your life? In Your world?
My husband today mentioned this verse in his sermon, and what I saw was so good I just had to share it with you.
What does sucess mean these days? Fame and riches -- particularly fame. We are told we are something if we are famous. And we are encouraged to seek after it.
The ones who get it, such as reality TV stars and other celebrities get the big bucks and seem to have it all. We are told this is sucess.
Even in Christian circles we have our own celebrities and people look to them as if they are something special, that they have achieved what we all should achieve -- success and fame.
This isn't what we are told to seek after though. We are told to "lead a quiet life and attend to your own business."
Now, not everyone who is famous was seeking fame. Often, it is a consequence of what a person is taking part in (such as being a really good Bible teacher and getting a following).
Are you wanting fame? Are you wanting riches? Are you seeking after this kind of success?
Or, are you making "it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business"?
