Think of His creativity:
"Thou didst provide bread from heaven for their hunger, Thou didst bring forth water from a rock for them for their thirst," Nehemiah 9:15a-b
He is still the same God. If He can bring water from a rock and food from heaven, what can't He do? What would be more difficult?
Think of the first Christmas -- think of the people who missed it: the religious leaders and Herod were told of His coming by the Magi from the East and they didn't even go check Jesus out for themselves! He hadn't arrived in the royal way they expected the Messiah to arrive.
What about us? When have we missed God because we wanted Him to do things our way? Are we missing Him right now? Are we missing seeing Him work because He doesn't fit into our schedules or agendas?
Have we considered how we will honor Jesus this Christmas? How we will celebrate His birthday? Presents are great (and I love giving them so I am totally for them). Programs are good (God uses these too). Parties can be a lot of fun (Jesus Himself went to parties). How we are going to take Jesus along to all the things we do this Christmas? Or if we are homebodies will we invite Him to be part of what we do at home?
My favorite church service every year is the Christmas Eve Candlelight service. Our church holds it at 4 p.m. Christmas Eve. Not everyone can attend from our church because of family plans, but the ones who attend (we also get a lot of visitors) I believe leave blessed. We always end with singing Silent Night by candlelight. It is a truly special time. So, if you are a local (or even if you're not and want to travel to Dupree this Christmas) I invite you to worship with us Christmas Eve. It is not a long service -- maybe an hour at most.
"Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people: for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior who is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10-11
