God never changes. He's always been a loving Father. But sometimes He has to show His children His mean face.
Okay, that really wasn't what I was going to talk about. Read that verse up there. My daily reading took me to Leviticus. It is filled with regulations on how to do certain sacrifices. One thing that goes through my mind is I am so thankful we don't have to partake in this kind of sacrifice stuff -- very complicated and very bloody.
This verse gives us a glimpse of what we are still to do though -- renew our thank offerings every day. My thankfulness today won't affect tomorrow. I can't do a lot of thanking one day and expect it to carry over. It is like the manna the Israelites ate. They had to gather new manna daily. Thanksgiving is necessary daily because it puts us in the right state of mind. It puts our eyes and hearts on Jesus rather than ourselves. Check this verse out:
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14
And check this one out:
Do all things without grumbling or disputing; Philippians 2:14
There are some days that command would be hard to do. If you practice thankfulness it will be a whole lot easier.
And one more verse:
Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. Philippians 4:9
So have a glorious day today! Be thankful. You are loved.
