God's into beautiful. My daily reading took me to three chapters in the book of Exodus. These chapters included God's instructions to Moses on how to build the tabernacle.
These instructions are filled with color, precious gems, porpoise skin, ram skin dyed red, linens, goat hair hides, silver and gold (tons of gold). It is amazing the stuff God chose. He told Moses to use a whole bunch of really expensive and quality materials. His instructions meant that very skilled and talented artisans of all kinds would need to be used to make this tabernacle.
The other thing I saw was how much God loves beauty. This is so evident everywhere on this earth, in all interactions with people if your eyes are open to it. No people are alike -- how does God have so much creativity? We do ourselves such a disservice when we say certain characteristics are more beautiful than others.
If God and His love and compassion are shining through a person, that person is absolutely stunning no matter what kind of shell he or she has.
If we are open to beauty and truly appreciating it (not lusting after it for that is a form of possession and objectification of something or someone), we will see God.
If you aren't active in the church presently, the church is missing out. You have talents, skills, insight into something that others don't. The church, the world needs you to use the skills, the talent, your passion for God. You have beauty to add. Oh, please add it. We need you.
