And I think that is what we are all to do. Do what we do and do it with joy and love. Bring the light of Jesus and his love and peace and joy to the world. This world so needs it!
I read a devotional this morning by Connie Rowland on the benefits of winter. You can read it here. I want to share a few quotes from it. She writes, "each season has a purpose in maintaining our environment. And winter is an important part of God's plan to
I searched for wintering and benefits of winter because I've been sleeping more and later in the morning. And I wonder if I should feel guilty about it. I'm moving slower. I'm not bustling around trying to get stuff done. And I think, it is a good thing. I had a bout of pneumonia that took a while to heal -- but God was even in those weeks of recovery. And Lupus is flaring and snow is everywhere and it is sure hard to get the wheelchair to the Suburban in the snow. So, Hawken and I hunker down and thank God for a working furnace and a kitchen that has food. And I think its okay to be slower in winter -- I know our society doesn't think that. Activities continue. Don't quit the race. Conquer winter. Do as much as you do all year long. But is that how God designed life to be like?
Maybe we are supposed to be cozy in winter. Maybe we are supposed to get needed rest. Maybe we are supposed to be a bit slower and more contemplative; taking time to read God's word and to consider life.
I just finished a book called 7 Ways to Pray by Amy Boucher Pye. She is an American Believer married to an English Vicar. They live in London. Click here to get a downloadable resource about the 7 ways to pray -- an abbreviated form of the book. I recommend buying the book because there is a lot more involved than the short descriptions of the 7 ways to pray. You can buy it here on Amazon or here at CBD. You can also buy it right off the author's website here.
Why bees in winter (referring to the picture I painted)? For the third time I am going to become a beekeeper. I am going to try anyway. The first two times so many things went wrong. But I've learned a lot and I now have a local person to buy bees from and I am going to redo my top bar bee box starting next month.
So, this has become a rambling mess so I will close. I hope you are pursuing Jesus. I hope you are spending time being creative just for the joy of it. I hope you are letting God love you. I hope you are spending time in His word. He will speak to you through it.
