When we think of spiritual warfare we might neglect to think of the Spiritual Fruit as being weapons against the enemy. But they are. They are listed in Galatians 5. The Spiritual fruit are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
When we display these characeristics we are fighting evil in a quiet but profound way. In some instances it isn't easy to show love or joy or peace or patience or kindness or goodness or faithfulness or gentleness or even self-control. But when it is the hardest to do, that is when it is most necessary.
The enemy hates God and all things that are of God. The world's system doesn't promote the Spiritual Fruit. Instead, the opposite is what is embraced now by our culture: hate, misery, chaos, lust, greed, anger, harshness, unfaithfulness, lack of self-control.
Jesus Himself says that He chose us and appointed us to "go and bear fruit" in John 15:16.
You are fighting spiritual forces when you bear spiritual fruit. When you show people love. When you show others kindness and goodness and patience. When you have self-control.
May we all be able to say the same thing Paul says in 2 Timothy 4:5, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith."
