We all know if we have one, if someone is a real friend. Mirriam-Webster online gives this simple definition, "A favored companion."
Do you have a friend? It is a basic human need. My daughter Maggie always wanted a friend. She wanted a real friend: A girlfriend she could giggle with; a girlfriend she could spend time with.
We all want friends. They are some of the best reasons we can have to be living life.
There's someone here who wants to be your friend -- Jesus. Is He your friend? Can you honestly say to yourself and Him that He is your constant and favored companion? That's what He wants for you.
See, living for Him doesn't mean you act a certain way or dress a certain way or go to a certain church or follow specific rules. It means asking Him to be your friend. It means accepting His forgiveness. It means letting Him be the driver while you enjoy the ride of this life.
If Jesus isn't that real to you, He can be. That's what we all need -- Jesus to be real. He isn't an idea. He isn't just a historical figure. He is alive will speak to you and guide you and be the truest friend you can ever have.
