I think we as a people of God have missed out when we don't think about God creating women in his image too. God compares himself to a mother in Isaiah 49:15.
Jesus said he wanted to be like a mother hen to Jerusalem: "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling." Matthew 23:37
God esteems women and a mother's love. He talks about forming us in our mothers' wombs in Psalm 139.
I bring this up because there is something to this.
Jesus was and is the Man, the God Man (100% human, 100% God) but God is our Parent. Jesus does say if you have seen him you've seen the Father. And I think we get hung up on the outside, the maleness rather than how he lived his life on this earth, how he loved, and believed and lived a life of faith.
God is the Perfect Parent, one that an earthly father or an earthly mother cannot be on his or her own. Children need both to grow emotionally healthy.
Paul writes in Galatians 3:28, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
All Believers miss out when we marginalize anyone because of their sex or their abilities or how they look, where they come from, their ethnic backgrounds. We can learn from each other.
The main thing is always the main thing: Jesus was born, he lived, he died, he rose again. All who believe in their heart that Jesus rose from the dead and confesses with their mouths Jesus is Lord will be saved.
But after that there is a lot that we have swallowed through human-made teaching that just doesn't jive with the Word.
