That's a promise. God was promising this to His children during their time in the wilderness when Moses was leading them.
There's power in a name. This is the first question people who don't know you ask you usually -- what's your name?
What happens when someone knows your name? Once your name is known, it is a way into your life. They can call on you. They can get your attention. They know a bit more about you then they did before. Depending on your name, they might know where you are from, who you are related to, your history.
When God's name is remembered, something incredible happens.
When God's name is spoken, power is evident.
Wow. This reminds me of Rahab speaking to the spies before Israel conquerored Jericho. She said to the spies:
"know that the LORD has given you the land, and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land have melted away before you. For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. When we heard it, our hearts melted and no courage remained in any man any longer because of you; for the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath."
Names are powerful. Something to think about....
