What does this mean for us? God is the Great Provider. I know you know that as well as I do. But I wondered this morning as I read this what does it mean to go to the mount where God provides?
Abraham went obediently to that mountain to sacrifice his son Isaac. God had told Abraham that through Isaac his descendants would be more numerous than the stars in the sky, but now God was asking Abraham to sacrifice this son. Abraham must have gone with conflicting emotions. He could have been a bit afraid, maybe confused, maybe he was grieving (and I bet he didn't tell Sarah). Maybe all this was true, but he obeyed anyway.
I wonder -- if we are dealing with many unknowns but obey anyway, will we find ourselves in that place of provision? I think so. No, I know so.
There have been times in my life when I just did what I knew I was supposed to do but had no idea how it would work out.
God always works it out. Every single time I have believed and obeyed even when I was so unsure, God did something far greater than I thought could come about.
