But in reality every single person belongs to God. In Ezekiel 18:4, God says, "Every soul—man, woman, child—belongs to me, parent and child alike."
With that being the case it is good to remember that God is speaking to every single person. He wants to have relationship with all of us. 2 Peter 3:9 says that God is "not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance."
Sometimes we make it about us. Sometimes we demand things in the relationships that we have no business demanding. Sometimes situations are just about God and them. Often it has nothing to do with us.
If you are a Believer and you do your best to live out a Believer's life, you might sometimes take the heat from a person you love who isn't living for Jesus. Your life might be a constant reminder of where they should be but are choosing not to be.. And that's okay. It means Jesus is shining out of you. It means God is speaking and trying to draw those loved ones back to Him. Don't despair! God "is patient" toward everyone (also from 2 Peter 3:9).
The best thing for us and our loved ones is to be in relationship with the Father. In Him is fullness of joy. In Him we will find out who we were created to be. In Him, we get to be part of His plans and purposes!
Remember, that this life is only a shadow of the Unseen Realm, the spiritual realm. There is where the real fight happens. We don't fight "against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Ephesians 6:12
