People in authority positions can think what they want. They can think they are in charge but they aren't. God is. God put them in authority for His purposes. Now, they can choose to work with God, be partners with Him in His work. But if they refuse His guidance He's going to do what He plans on doing anyway despite them.
This is why we shouldn't fear people in authority (or anyone for that matter). God is in control no matter what people say, no matter who tries to intidimate you, no matter what reality looks like.
They key is your job in this -- to believe in God and not doubt.
"Jesus answered and said to them, 'This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.'" John 6:29
"If you believe you will see the glory of God" John 11:40b
If you will rest in God and believe He is working on your behalf you will see Him come through. It is like your belief and confidence in Him gives Him the in He needs to move mountains. Your doubt, if you say "well, if it is God's will it will happen" kicks the feet out from under the plan!
"But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways." James 1:6-8
God wants to partner with us. I think it is probably a whole lot more fun for Him to work with His children, the ones who are so crazy in love with Him that they will believe even when it looks ridiculous to outsiders.
To believe like this won't look smart or practical to anyone (especially yourself). To believe like this will look naive, even stupid to others who don't understand how powerful God is.
Many shy away from this kind of belief because of the abuse of it in the church at-large. This kind of belief isn't to be self-centered. We aren't to believe so we can satisfy our lust and our love for material junk. Jesus preached against this. Matthew writes, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal." Matthew 6:19
Man, what power we Believers have with and in God. Believe today. Be confident. Let God work through you!
