First, playing fetch. I was so excited to see her learn fetch so quickly. Now, she likes to play with anything. She'll bring me old bones or pieces of plastic; toys, anything she can find. And I throw and she runs fast and brings the object obediently back. Her problem is the letting go part. She wants to let go because she really wants to fetch, but often her teeth won't cooperate. They let go but then almost immediately grab hold again. Can you read the spiritual application?
Maggie is like us. We need to give God something so He can make it fly for us, but we have a hard time letting go. Nothing will happen until we let go. He might have it partly in His hands but until we finally let go of it completely it is still ours.
Second, the skunk!
As I sat at my computer my husband came over to give me a hug before he left the house. His nose started sniffing around me.
"It's you," he says to me.
I caught Maggie's smell! I had to take a shower and throw my clothes in the hamper (Hopefully I smell better now).
We can pass on smelly stuff to others (like Maggie did to me) if we aren't careful. Examples? Bad attitudes, hurtful looks, nasty words, fighting stances. Let's not do that to others. Maggie is completely ignorant of passing on her skunk smell but we aren't ignorant. We know bad and good stuff is catching.
If you're going to pass on something today, make sure it's good -- like a big toothy smile.
