Some may try to interpret these election results from God's perspective. But you know, I don't think we know God as well as we think we do. God Himself says, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways My ways . . . For as the heavens are the higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts."
(By the way I linked the above verse to The Message version. It is really cool).
We aren't to argue with those we disagree with. We can discuss the issues, but we now need to get behind our President and pray for Him. That is what God calls us to do -- not to sow dissension.
God's word says, "The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live."
Let's become the Americans who get things done. We are at our best when we are united and helping each other and others on our soil and in foreign lands. We are better when we put God's interests first -- that we would care for the weak, the ones in distress, the ones who cannot care for themselves.
God is not American. Jesus is not an American CItizen. I am proud to be an American, but I am more identified with being God's child. My Father wants us all in His Family. My Father wants us all to share all the bounty He's given us with the world. My Father wants us to open our eyes and see the hurting in our communities; to not look to government but to Him for our needs; to share the Love of Christ and the Hope of the Salvation that is found in Him and Him alone.
Please don't waste time over what could have been. Please don't waste time complaining. God has blessed us with a new day to work on His behalf.
"Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man shall give to you, for on Him the Father, even God, has set His seal . . . This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."
John 6:27, 29
