I don't know why Martha was distracted. The things needed doing most likely. Maybe she was doing too much. Maybe she was trying too hard. I don't know. Martha knew exactly what Jesus said to her when she asked Him to change the situation.
So, what is your distraction? What keeps you from sitting at Jesus' feet? What takes away from your time with Him? What takes your focus off God?
Eliminate it.
Obviously, like in Martha's case, the food had to be prepared, but maybe her distraction was she was trying to impress. That is just a guess and probably a bad one.
Eliminate the root -- whatever it is.
Something I've been trying hard at but it is just frustrating me is I've tried to write a YA novel on a certain fable for the last couple of years. I've restarted it in different ways at least twice. I love YA books that are loosely based on fairy tales. There is a story in me but it isn't coming out. Maybe this just isn't the time for me. Dick King-Smith (one of my favorite children's book authors) didn't start writing his chapter books until he was in his 60s. One of his most famous books is Babe. It was made into a movie. The rest of his books are just as good as that one. I love them!!!
Anyway, I'm surrendering to all this right now. I'm eliminating this distraction in my life.
What takes you out of God's peace?
