"And when Herod had searched for (Peter) and had not found him, he examined the guards and ordered that they be led away to execution" Acts 12:19
The reason I share these verses is because this morning I read them and wondered about the Prophet Agabus and the soldiers. Agabus is mentioned one more time in Acts when he makes a prophecy about Paul's future death. In the verse above he had predicted a famine that did happen eventually. What else did this Agabus do? To be mentioned in the Scriptures is significant. What was he like? How much did he believe? Did he have a family?
And the soldiers are the ones who were chained to Peter in prison when the angel came and released Pete but left the chains on the sleeping Soldiers. Pete's escape was an answer to prayer but it might have been the cause of the death of these soldiers. Our lives do in fact affect those around us. But what about these soldiers? Did God save them from execution? Did these soldiers know the LORD? They were chained to Peter so he probably talked to them about the LORD. And then he was miraculously released. What did they think about that?
So much is in the Scriptures that we won't ever know until we get to heaven. Those questions were answered by God. God knows the answers to all those questions and more. God knew each of those men intimately. He created them. And they have stories just as important as the stories we know. And our stories are just as important even if they are known only by God.
