I was thinking about Jesus' birth -- the sheer craziness of how it happened. Humans would never have planned it the way God did -- a baby, an animal shelter, lots of shepherd and sheep and angels and light and hay and stars.....there's a lot of glory in that list but there is also a lot of mess.
Then, think about Abraham and Sarah -- she didn't her son until she 90 years old. Abraham was 100 years old. That was surely not how that couple pictured their first-born son coming to be. Sarah was beautiful but at 90 she had to be feeling and showing her age at least a little bit.
Do you know about Elijah? God provided for him using ravens as delivery birds!
"I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there . . . and the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook." 1 Kings 17:4, 6
Only God could have made that happen! Only God would have come up with that scheme (or maybe a fantasy writer).
Then, there was that one time where Jesus provided tax money for himself and Peter. He told Pete to go fishing and said the fish he caught would have enough money in its mouth to pay for the tax. It happened just as he said it would!
God is ridiculously fun in His provision and in His plans! He is outlandish. He is so out of any box we would try to put Him in. He is God. He is Creator. He is Amazing and Incredible and .....Wow!
One of my favorite verses is Colossians 1:17. It says, "And (Jesus) is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."
Jesus is the glue of the world! He keeps everyone functioning whether they acknowledge Him or not.
