If you're a mom I know this has happened to you before:
you are in a public place and you hear, "Mom! Mom!"
You panic. You count heads. You sigh. The scream isn't coming from one of yours. But then you get worried -- is that little kid's mom going to answer?
Most every single time I'm sure the right mom comes along (or the kid finds a worker and the worker has the mom's name broadcast over the loud speaker).
(This thought came to me a few days ago. It makes sense to me. I hope it makes sense to others.)
Here's my thought:
if you had a roomful of kids screaming for mom, they all want mom. But unless they are siblings of some sort, they all want a different mom. They want their own mom.
Think of this when people say everyone in different religions are really praying to the same god when they say God. Yeah they might call God different names at different times but they all get back to praying, "God, help me."
Yeah, "God" might sound the same and maybe all the different names are really just a name for God and so some think they we can say it is all one God. There are just a bunch of different paths to Him.
I do believe that each of us are on different journeys to God and you could call them paths, BUT, the only way to make that final step to God is to go through Jesus Christ. Sure, you could start in a different religion. But if you are truly seeking Truth God will lead you somehow to Jesus Christ. He is the answer. He is the Son of God. We have to accept His Forgiveness, His sacrifice in order to get to our Perfect Father. That is the fundamental Spiritual Law.
See, only shed blood can pay for sin. Sin must be paid. We can't do it ourselves by trying to make up for that one sin with perfect lives. Even if we could do it it wouldn't be enough. We could give a zillion dollars to the poor and that wouldn't be enough. We could sacrifice our own lives. That still wouldn't be enough. There is absolutely nothing we can do to get to God even if we were the strongest, the best, the kindness, the brightest, the most awesome person ever.
That's why we shouldn't be offended if someone says we have to accept Christ to get to heaven -- it isn't that Christians are the best people. They are just forgiven and have the way in. There is not a sin you can think of that hasn't been committed by some Christian at some time in history. You might know some Christians you think are awful people (if you do I'm sorry -- sometimes we aren't shining examples of God's love. Sometimes we are just bad). And people you knwo who are the best people you've met might not be Christians. I'm not saying they aren't as great as you think they are. They are! Man, God loves them so much. Jesus loves them! They just can't get to heaven being incredibly decent loving wonderful people without Jesus. He is the Door and you gotta go through the Door.
Please accept Jesus Christ. No, He won't make you into a weirdo. If you know a Christian who is a weirdo (maybe that is me), he or she was probably a weirdo before he or she became a Believer. When we accept Christ, we can have inner peace and a washing of our souls that feels absolutely INCREDIBLE!
Come to Jesus! Please!
