"For the LORD will rise up . . . He will be stirred up . . . To do His task, His unusual task, And to work His work, His extraordinary work." Isaiah 28:21
That applies to your life and mine! There are times in our lives that God rises up and does an extraordinary thing in our lives (it happens often actually). He is poised, waiting for the right moment to work in that situation you're worried about. He is waiting for all the pieces to line up so things will go the way He has planned (which is the very best way).
There will be times in your life you are given new opportunities. When you are given them, go for it. Do something new. Do something out of your comfort zone. Give God the opportunity to work mighty things through you.
Last Saturday I was asked to speak at a women's luncheon. I was one of four women speaking.
It was so much fun to speak to the ladies! I'd speak every week if the opportunity arose. One of the best parts is interacting with the people you are speaking to -- hearing them laugh, seeing them take in words that could come only from God. It was a delight.
God has opportunities like that for every single child of His. Sometimes, though, I think we limit God when He wants to be limitless through us.
Sometimes we hem ourselves in with rules or our own perceptions of ourselves and what we can and cannot do. Or we might allow other people's opinions of us hinder us from doing something that looks crazy (but if God has called us to it, it is totally the right thing to do no matter what others think).
With that I want to go a bit off topic but I have to speak about this because there is a lesson in it for us. We have a new dog. His name is Cowboy. He's a pit bull terrier. Now, I wasn't even going to consider him (we went to the Pierre, SD PAWS animal shelter to adopt a dog) because he is a pitbull and pitbulls have terrible reputations. I knew nothing about pitbulls except horror stories of them in the news.
Let me tell you -- our pitbull is so sweet. The only way he'd attack anyone is lick them to death! He's obedient. He's docile. He's smart. From what I've read, he is typical of this breed. He knew his name the second day he was with us. He comes immediately when I call. And he always, always wants to please his people.
Let's get past reputations or people's perceptions of each other and let's just do what God gives us to do this day. He's an exciting God. He's so creative! Tell Him you'll do whatever He asks you to do . . . and then hold on! He's got some incredible plans for you.
