What can be so cheap but affect your life (and no I get no compensation for this -- just sharing)?
(Actually, it might even be free if you already have something that will work.)
So, what did I do?
I opened up my journal and read a few pages of entries from last spring and early summer. I read my conversations with God. I read my prayer requests. I read about a few things I was struggling with. Those aren't the life-changing effects I'm talking about. It's what comes after reading them.
I read them and was reminded how God answered prayers for me; how He grew me; how He worked in relationships and how He sustained my family and gave us a great summer. That is life changing. To see the effects of a spiritual life and prayer. To see God's faithfulness in the pages of my journal.
You might be a not a writer. That's okay. You don't have to be a writer to keep a notebook of prayers.
This is what I encourage to do:
Get yourself a notebook of any size (now is the perfect time because there are back-to-school sales). Every morning before you leave the house or start your day of chores briefly write prayer requests, a prayer, things you are seeking God for. Just write a couple of sentences and put it away. Or write down your worries and then ask God for help.
Do this for the next month. Once the month is over go back and read what you wrote. I guarantee your faith will increase. I guarantee you will be encouraged.
"And then God answered: “Write this.
Write what you see.
Write it out in big block letters
so that it can be read on the run.
This vision-message is a witness
pointing to what’s coming.
It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait!
And it doesn’t lie.
If it seems slow in coming, wait.
It’s on its way. It will come right on time." Habakkuk 2:2-3
