Bad theology.
Yes, sometimes God requires steps of obedience from us prior to acting in such a way in our lives (as when Jesus told the ten lepers to show themselves to the priest -- as they went their way they were healed), but this isn't manipulation on our point. This is just obedience. Please don't believe any program that tells you if you do these five steps God will do this for you. Replace steps and this with whatever you choose to.
The study I am doing now is called Unexplainable Jesus by Erica Wiggenhorn. Here is the passage I wanted to share with you:
"So, which premise is true: Healing requires faith? Or faith is not required for healing to occur? I would suggest both are true because each instance of healing is personal. And, more importantly we cannot put God's plans and premises for healing into a box that we can examine and manipulate.
"The moment I can put God into a box of my own logic and reasoning, predicting everything He will and won't do and why, is the moment I have made Hiim too small. His purposes are often beyond our reasoning. We cannot say He healed because we had faith nor can we say that if we have faith, He must heal. Neither can we say He didn't heal because of lack of faith or that where faith is absent His healing power is limited.
"People cannot control God's actions either positively or negatively. He is sovereign in all His ways. God can, however, require steps of faith and/or obedience from us before He decides to work on our behalf." Erica Wiggenhorn
