Cover your head.
Here comes the mess.
Here comes the chaos.
It's piling and you just want to scream.
Things don't go the way you thought they were going to go. Disgruntled people yell and complain. Unexpected bills fill your mailbox. Bam, crash, over and over.
At times, this is life.
And the human thing to do is react.
To yell.
To stomp our feet.
To lash back at whoever the messenger is at the moment (those poor messengers).
But don't.
Don't lash back.
Don't stomp your feet.
Just give yourself a few moments to let all the new information soak in.
Give yourself time to rationally look at it all.
God has it.
God will take care of it.
Don't panic.
Use the word "Yet."
What do I mean?
Blah, blah, blah and blah happened and it was really bad, YET I will praise the Lord.
So and so did this and said that, YET I will thank God for this moment and what He will accomplish.
My plans failed and led to chaos, YET God is still in control and God's got this.
This is how we need to learn to respond when everything begins to fall on our head emotionally and situationally (not physically -- if things are falling on your head literally take cover!).
I love the last few verses in the book of Habakkuk.
He writes,
"Though the fig tree should not blossom, And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail, And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold, And there be no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. The Lord GOD is my strength, And He has made my feet like hinds' feet, And makes me walk on my high places."
