There's a verse in John 6 that says "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." (verse 29)
Did you get that?
When you believe in God and wait on Him you are doing God's work.
When we take things into our own hands, try to "fix" things for ourselves, thinking it should happen a certain way, then we can really mess stuff up.
Right now we have debt I sure wish we didn't have. A lot of it is just from us trying to survive, feeding our kids, putting gas in the car. But some of it came from me trying to increase our income.
I make goat milk soap and homemade creams. All of it is really good stuff. I don't use anything else. But, I am not a salesperson. I have never been a salesperson and I never will be. It just isn't in me.
So, when I decided to sell my soap I thought I had to get all these supplies, packaging, special oils, all sorts of stuff that weren't bad things at all. In fact, they were good things. But the follow-through for me was never there. Yes, I sell the stuff but it is more by word of mouth. I think I give more away than I ever sell because I love to give it away.
I should have just waited on God. I should have just believed that He would increase our income in His own way and in His time.
Yes, the bills have to get paid, but if we don't do it God's way, it might just get worse.
One silly thing I am waiting for is the perfect milk goat. Goat milk is great for children, adults, anyone really. But, every female goat is different. Some goats have great tasting milk. Others have nasty tasting milk. I have had a couple whose milk tasted good only half the time.
There's no way to know from just looking at a goat if her milk tastes good or not. So, I will wait and let God choose the goat for me.
And I am no longer going to try and be a salesperson. Forget it. What am I besides a child of God, wife and mom? I am a writer and a painter and sometimes a worship leader.
That's about it.
Believe in God. Believe He will do it. You don't have to manipulate situations or people. You don't have to strive. Just believe and watch Him work. He is always, ALWAYS working on our behalf.
