Jesus also told us what we are to do in this constantly-changing world. In Matthew 25 He tells a parable of the end of time when the people are divided, some on His right and the others on His left. The ones that are on His right are told:
"Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." Matthew 25:34
Why this answer?
Jesus tells them, "For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me."
Matthew 25:35-36
Those are the things we are supposed to do in this life according to Jesus (and He should know). We are to:
Feed the hungry.
Give drink to the thirsty.
Welcome the stranger.
Clothe the naked.
Visit the sick and those in prison.
The thing about all these is they take intentional effort. They mean laying aside our own desires and meeting needs we see. They mean that we take time away from what we want to do and see Jesus in others -- meet the needs of Jesus in others. We might not be able to do all these all the time, but if we keep our eyes open God will give us opportunity to meet needs.
