What are you? I mean what has God called you to do? Your answer might have many answers or just one or two.
What am I? I am a writer, a scribe for God (not saying everything I write is from God -- I just try to write for Him). I'm not the best writer. I know that. But I'm passable, readable and sometimes really used by Him. Other times, my words are just more noise in this big world.
I started up on writing a Bible study again that I began four years ago. I wrote the first three chapters and then put it into a computer file not touching it until this year. I started with it again because I needed to write something. I have no idea if anyone other than myself will read it, but I'm working on it because it gives me direction to my thoughts and personal study.
We don't always have to take part in something that we believe will be a success. We might just do something because we know we need to regardless of the outcome.
This post goes along with the last post they did. Read it here if you haven't read it and would like to read it.
We are surrounded by success stories and get-rich schemes and real people who have actually made livings off of youtube and such. We can get caught up in wanting society success while forgetting that Jesus doesn't promise us that nor does He tell us to pursue it. His life, according to the world's view, was pretty much a failure. He wasn't a worldly traveler. He wasn't wealthy. He had outcasts following him, not the big wigs of the day. One of his devoted followers betrayed Him which led to His arrest and death. Jesus didn't seek success. In fact, He would tell the ones He healed not to mention His true identity to others. You could say He shunned popularity and fame.
God works through the obscure, the quiet, the unassuming kinds of things. He doesn't come in a glamorous or sophisticated way. He doesn't call His followers to either.
Don't discount the little things, the efforts no one else sees. God doesn't.
"'Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man shall give to you for on Him the Father, even God, has set His seal.'" John 6:27
